A few months back now we worked with Lynchpin, a web analytics company for the first time on refreshing their existing site. They were keen to keep using Drupal which they were comfortable using and were able to alter code here and there. So what we ended up doing for them was a completely new home page and footer and a couple of basic templates to use elsewhere in the site that they could tweak themselves. We also worked on making the home page ‘timeline’ interactive.
Andrew Hood of Lynchpin said, “ILCK were the perfect partner for our website relaunch project. They translated our marketing strategy into an end result that we are delighted with, and more importantly is directly driving new business for us. Friendly and pragmatic, ILCK were a great sounding board throughout the process and really helped us refine how we present ourselves in the market. The build itself was high quality, on time and on budget – testament to their design, technical and project management credentials.”

So we launched the Cycle Scottish Borders a few weeks back. It has over 40 cycle routes throughout the Borders complete with profiles, the local attractions and businesses en route, gpx files to download and stats to help you choose a suitable route.
On the page above, you can refine your search by town, level of difficulty, altitude gain and distance.
And users can leave reviews of an individual route so you can judge based on other’s experiences if that route will be exactly what you’re looking for.
There are other sections on the site such as Stay Eat Shop which gives you listings for each whether or not you are there to cycle primarily, you can plan in some of those things too. The News Offers & Events section features local cycling events and more. The launch of the site was to also run along side the build up to the Tour of Britain departing from Peebles this weekend, which is a great event for the Borders to be hosting. We really enjoyed getting our heads into what cyclists would need from this site and we hope that it will be useful from the outset even though there is lots more that could be developed.

Back when we launched the Centre for Advanced Textiles bespoke fabric printing site, we also launched a new site for another branch of their business called ‘Classic Textiles‘.
Classic Textiles is a collection of designs by 3 artists that can be reproduced onto fabric in custom lengths and in a number of colourways available in each design. They have collections from Lucienne Day, Sylvia Chalmers and Robert Stewart. Do take a look…

We’re very excited to have been invited to play with some Fence Collective greats this Sunday at the Oran Mor as a part of the West End Festival in Glasgow.
They have very kindly said some lovely things about us and we’re altogether flattered and honoured to be invited to join in. We’re up first at about 5.30 and there are a handful of tickets left here.

It has taken a lot of hours of planning, designing, building and testing but we are very happy to announce that the Centre for Advanced Textiles custom printed fabric site is now live!
They are based within Glasgow School of Art and have been printing digitally for a number of years now but this is the first time that you can upload your own pattern file or single image and create a pattern, choose your fabric and order your design to be printed – online.

The team at CAT all have degrees in textiles or manufacturing and have very high standards so your work is in good hands.
They have proved this by working closely with a number of great clients. They have printed fabric for Topshop, fashion designers such as Holly Fulton, textiles designers such as Timorous Beasties and Bluebell Grey, for many artists such as Deirdre Nelson, and photographers, such as Hugh Walker shown below.
Following similar companies like Spoonflower, based in America, we hope this branch of the business will do well for them.

We’ve just launched a new site for Ushida Findlay Architects who are based in London. Their portfolio is varied and impressive, full of conceptual and unusual buildings.

My personal favourite is the Soft and Hairy House built in Japan, inspired by Dali’s prediction that architecture in the future would be ‘soft and hairy’.

They are also currently on site with an impressive project with Cecil Balmond and Anish Kapoor called the ArcelorMittal Olympic Orbit that is getting built on London’s Olympic site. I’d love to see the finished work in the flesh. I saw Anish Kapoor’s Marsyas when it was in the turbine hall at the Tate Modern and loved the sheer scale of it and walking around it (and touching it – got a row).

Good to get out at last in the sun and get some vocals recorded.
We recorded here up the steps shown in this image at Culross Abbey‘s ruins overlooking the community garden.

The genius Mr Alastair MacGregor found a nice spot overlooking the Sydney opera house to record some more for the next album, all recorded outdoors. Thus adding another point on the recording locations map! You can see a video of me concentrating very hard as tourists looked on whilst I recorded some clapping on the equator.

Another site launched in the last week was for Wells Cathedral – the beautiful cathedral in the smallest city in England. In terms of number of pages, this seems like one of the biggest sites we’ve launched and it has been a big task for them to gather all the content for going live. We have just launched at phase 2 and have lots more to add but it is great to have the new site up for all to see.
