Moodboards are a great help when I need to see all the things that are inspiring me on one page. It also helps me edit as I collate the images , I discard the ones that don’t ‘fit’. Often I find them encouraging as the finished board looks more together than I felt my thoughts were.
I am very thankful that in the next month or so, we are replacing our damp kitchen and I was looking through my kitchen tags – and I found there was little need for a moodboard other than affirming the choices we’ve made…
I’ve made a number of personal moodboards. The earliest was from a couple of years ago when my head was spinning with ideas for moving into our 1st ‘bought’ flat, I have deviated slightly but the current mood is not far off…
A more recent one was to help my sister plan her wedding this coming August…
And lastly, some pages from moodboards to help me try and style friends Kid Adrift…

Just one idea from ‘The wrong objects’ collection. The ‘telephone that holds things’ idea looks great too.

Lately, I feel like I’ve seen plenty of good things on blogs but nothing has stood out. At last these projects have caught my eye!

One of my favourite blog just now is The Big Picture, run by The Boston Globe covering big events from the World Cup to regular coverage of the war in Afghanistan. It always manages to cover many angles and perspectives of whatever the subject matter is.
They have posted many updates on the oil spill (1,2,3,4,5) and the images are very moving and worth a look at. I find the videos showing the rate that the oil is still getting pumped into the sea the most disturbing.

Two months in and the creative industry are staring to sell work to raise money for those affected and Threadless have printed a tee on sale for $10 and all proceeds go to the Gulf Restoration Network.

Three months on and it is good to see that people are still raising money for the victims of the earthquake and for the re-building of the capital. I read about the Haiti Poster Project again this morning and picked out some favorites. My husband was out in February and more friends have just returned with the 4th trip since the earthquake with the charity Lemonaid and a team of 21 including plumbers and welders went out and the ‘Rebuild Haiti’ poster suited the purpose of that trip.
If you aren’t bored of reading about it – Good magazine were accepting submissions for illustrated statistics on the earthquake and relief which are worth looking at and here is the winner. My husband Dan posted a blog on his experience and a sound recording on ‘Sixty Seconds Somewhere Else‘ and some photos of his trip too if you’re interested on the personal experience more than statistics.
