Time Lapse

Monday, February 20th, 2012

While I was away on holiday last week I as introduced to a new app, another new-fangled photo app, King Camera. *Cringe*

Now I’m not a fan of these apps, it’s no Photoshop, BUT there was one feature that took me by storm – time lapse. A little trial and error, a beautiful evening, and a lot of patience.

Some things you can’t rush…

Vicki Gausden – all things lovely

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

Edinburgh-based hand lettering artist and illustrator, Vicki Gausden, has a unique and bold illustration style – it’s just lovely. Quirky and appealing, her hand lettering and illustration is used primarily for children’s books among other things.

She recently had an exhibition at Eteaket, they had tea cocktails and everything (yum). Eteaket are selling her prints online if you want to get your hands on some of them.

New Site Launch: SEP

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

SEP Hompage

Scottish Equity Partners (SEP) is a growth equity and venture capital investor based in Glasgow and London. Their previous website failed to accurately represent the company ethos and brand. SEP were looking to completely overhaul the old site both in terms of content and design. ILCK  visually crafted a new digital look to clearly articulate and reflect the current value proposition of SEP.

We’ve been working hard over the last few months and are pleased to announce the site launch.

Thanks to the SEP team who made this project a pleasure to work on.

Clump-O-Lump

Monday, February 6th, 2012

What’s a Monday without a bit of fun? It’s toys like Clump-O-Lump that make me want to be 5 years-old again. Such fun to be had!

The Clump-O-Lump Family
It’s a family of stuffed animals that can be mixed and matched by simply zipping the body parts together. Genius! My favourites are the Squid-o the Squid and the Shark-o the Shark… actually I want them all, don’t you?

Learn how it works here.

The video’s pretty cute too!

Hands-On Creative process

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

In a world shrouded with the use of Photoshop, I enjoy seeing a bit of the hands-on creative process. For the February cover of Creative Review illustrator, Miles Donovan, explains how he did it.

The Rise of the Designer Bakery

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

Nothing says homely like the smell of freshly baked bread. ‘Homely’ isn’t what this new breed of bakeries are going for though.

Rather, they are paving the way by simply being darn right cool; some are sleek and feel more like a chic boutique hotel, some are rustic yet industrial, others are bright, clean, clinical. Either way, count me as the newest fan of the Designer Bakery club (I wish there was an actual club).

Paper Craft – Cut, fold, assemble.

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

Creating a three-dimensional object out of a series of two-dimensional shapes is like magic. And anything that requires cutting, folding and assembling always brings a smile to my face.

Paper cutouts

From just looking at the drawings of disassembled objects from Agence Eureka we can guess what they are, but in order to be sure I’d have to cut and fold of course.

Art for T’s Sake

T Magazine cover montage

I can’t believe it’s taken so long for this to come to my attention. What is not to love about the The New York Times Style Magazine covers? For every print edition of the magazine, T, they ask an artist to reimagine the logo. And just look at the results – stunning.
