Summer Holidays

So tomorrow is my last day in the office before I head off on holiday to Andalucia and Morocco – can’t wait for some sun and to spend my birthday money in the souks. Here are a few things that are quite unrelated but have caught my eye…

I was never one for ‘cute’ animal posters but I would love this guy, or any of the other animals (except the cats), in the largest available size on my wall. All the animals were beautifully and skillfully photographed by Sharon Montrose.

Wish I had a. thought of this first and b. that I had the skills to make it. Corey Holms for Depeche Mode.

I never thought a jelly monger business to be much of a success but Bompas and Parr seem to be geniuses at making it work very well indeed. It would have been so good to have visited the Ziggurat of Flavour at the Big Chill Festival.

Lastly, I was thankful to this blog post that assured me we had made a good choice and it got me in the mood.

If money was no object

I would have to spend a night at the incredible The Mirrorcube in the Treehotel.

I also love the look of this foyer at and this new hotel on Vieques Island…

NGS Education Brochure

Here is a recent project where we worked with the National Galleries of Scotland to re-design their Education Brochure. It gets sent to every school in Scotland to encourage teachers to visit with their classes, use the website as a resource or attend classes themselves.

The aim was to make it look more child-friendly so that it would appeal to the teachers and make them feel confident that their trip would be fun and worthwhile. I ran it past some teaching friends and it got the thumbs up. Futura served me well as a teacher-friendly font that represents the letter ‘a’ the way that kids are taught to write it, thus proving to teachers out there that Comic Sans is not the only option.

Launch of Magnetic Junction

We’ve been busy with lots of new projects lately. Here is another we’ve just launched – Magnetic Junction is a new site launched by Will Ross. He and his team aim to inspire, guide and advise on adventure travel through their site. Hopefully, over time, it will develop into a great resource for like-minded travelers.

House of Cheviot Launch

The site is now launched! The full catalogue and site to come at a later date.

I now have my eye on a pair of these Chessboard socks in deep pink for my cousin’s Christmas – on time for his annual Beef Club dinner at New Year. Whilst I’m at it… apparently the official Hunter welly socks, although they look nice – are pretty thin and don’t make welly-wearing much more of a comfortable experience, so I am wondering if my sister would appreciate a pair of Lady Rannoch socks to wear with her Hunter wellies.
