Well it’s back to work today at ILCK and there is plenty to be getting on with but I just wanted to share visual treats from my Christmas holidays.
First up was a mad dash visit to the new Anthropologie store in London, amid a family trip to see Paul McCartney at the O2. Having heard lots about it and seen plenty pictures, I thought as I approached it I may be disappointed and a little embarrassed at dragging 4 others through the crowds on the 22nd December but fortunately, they were as impressed as I was. Here’s a picture of some of my favorite bits.
My other highlights were some presents from my husband – the first was a part completed challenge I had suggested to him for my Christmas – this hand made tea cup chandelier, I saw over at Domestic Construction. It is well on track, thanks to a local glaziers who cut out the bottoms of the cups to allow the light fixtures to fit through, and I can’t wait for that to be up in our hallway.
The other gift that I am so pleased with is my big Charley Harper ‘An Illustrated Life’ book. After browsing through this in Borders some months back, I was gutted that I had not been faster in trying to get one in it’s closing down sale as I figured that was my only chance of getting one. Little did I know there was a smaller version (that some say is actually better print quality) and that Dan had bought me one. It is a real joy to look through the many illustrations from such a hard working man. One of my favorite quotes from Charley Harper on his style of illustration, “I do not count the feathers but I do count the wings”. Have a look at some more of his work here.
